SIt started early on in 2016 with a few of our sites integrating push messaging with the blogs for the first time.  With this the growth of a huge list of subscribers and a new warm higher converting traffic source.

We then implemented push notifications for a major ecommerce client on Shopify. We were really pleased with the results and so was the client.  Push notifications became a real sales channel for anything we wanted to promote and abandon cart sequences. 

A push notification solution just for ecommerce. 

Not long after, that same client decided to make the move away from Shopify to WooCommerce.  We had some experience with push notifications for blog posts on WordPress, but when we looked for a dedicated ecommerce solution for WooCommerce we couldn’t find it. 

We also saw that there was a real lack of good push notification services focused on ecommerce so we began to research what that would look like.

It all culminated in a trip to a marketing conference in September 2019, which highlighted the growth of new messaging channels.

One of the featured speakers was Neil Patel. When it was time to speak he gets on stage and he let’s everyone know that he’s going to tell them what is the biggest thing they can do for their brands in 2020.  He says “implement push notifications”. 

Ecommerce Message has been in development for over a year and we have been live on several ecommerce stores since Summer of 2020. 

So what’s with the Whale on the logo? 

Well, we knew we wanted to incorporate a message icon into our logo. At first we tried to create a shopping cart that looked like a message icon but that never looked right.  When showing off a few versions of that logo someone pointed out that it looked like a whale. The more we thought about the whale and what whales are most known for “their messaging” we thought it made total sense.  

And… now we look forward to which team member gets to dress up in a whale costume for our next conference!
